BigRigSteve's Reviews
I had the opportunity to try out the latest CB radio that Cobra Electronics has to offer it's consumers, the Cobra 29WXNWBT.
This radio combines all the available features you could possibly desire in one unit. With the slick black colored case, it blends in nicely with the dashboard. Out of the box, you get a very nice 6 pin microphone that has a blue button on it for the bluetooth function. Press that, and you can redial the last number on your phone, hang up, etc just as you can with your standard bluetooth earpiece. Included is also an external microphone that you can clip on the visor or your shirt. The external microphone only works during the bluetooth mode, and will not interfere with the regular CB operations. The color Cobra uses as backlighting is a very bright, but deep blue color. There is a DIM button that dims everything except the meter window. The meter window only dims halfway.
When you have your phone setup to use the CB radio as the bluetooth, the CB works as normal. When you get a call, the CB radio portion automatically goes silent allowing crystal clear bluetooth operation. The quality of the bluetooth audio is very good, just make sure you have the microphone (regular mic or external mic) close to you when you speak. Simply hangup and the CB portion returns to normal operation.
The radio has many knobs including Volume/Squelch, Dynamike/DIM, RF Gain, Weather, Talkback/SWR CAL. The weather portion (if turned on) has seven channels it uses to find the local weather information from NOAA. Even when the CB is turned OFF, if there is an emergency weather alert issued in the area, the CB will make a loud alert tone so you can become aware of any bad weather approaching. Very nice radio indeed. I use the bluetooth portion about half the time, and almost seems easier than having my regular earpiece stuck in my ear!
If you are looking for a decent radio jam packed with features, I would give this one a try.
